He explained a legal point of view on the intervention of the Soviet troops, the trials following the revolution, the status of the country as a Soviet satellite state, and the legality of the Kádár government. The most important points of reference were the Peace Treaty with Hungary (1947), the Geneva Conventions, and the Warsaw Pact.]]></dcterms:abstract>

The committee asked him about the execution of his father, the soldiers who joined the revolution, and the sort of help the revolutionaries expected from the UN. János László, a lieutenant in the German army during World War II, spent seven years in Siberia and three years in Hungarian labor camps. After his short statement, the committee asked him about the fighting, and the sort of help the revolutionaries expected from abroad.]]></dcterms:abstract>

He spoke about his arrest and imprisonment (1952-56), assaults by Soviet soldiers against civilians as well as the Red Cross ambulance corps, and his personal experiences in fighting. Witness BB, a doctor, participated in the revolution as a surgeon in a clinic. He was asked questions about medical supplies received from abroad, and about the patients the clinic handled. Witness AA was a university student and worked as a first-aid nurse in a hospital during the revolution.
